PERIODONTICS
The goal of periodontal therapy is to preserve the dentition in a state of health, comfort, and function with appropriate esthetics. Treatment should alter or eliminate putative pathogens and contributing risk factors, resolve inflammation, arrest disease progression, and create an environment that deters recurrent disease. In addition, regeneration of the periodontium may be attempted where indicated.
ROOT CANAL
ENDODONTICS
An endodontist is a dentist who specializes in root canal treatment. Root canal, or endodontic treatment, is a procedure performed to remove damaged tissue from inside the root canals of a tooth. As a specialist, endodontists limit their practice to endodontic procedures. For more information on root canal treatment, see Treating Your Tooth to Endodontics.
Endodontists have advanced surgical and nonsurgical skills that make them uniquely qualified to treat routine as well as complex cases. The care that an endodontist provides is supported by intensive education on how to perform the very best endodontics. After completing dental school, endodontists attend a two- or three-year advanced dental school program that focuses only on endodontic science and procedures. Endodontists also attend continuing education courses after they are in practice, so they are knowledgeable about state-of-the-art research, clinical procedures, and technology.
ROOT PLANNING
The goal of root planing is to eliminate the source of periodontal infection by removing the plaque and tartar and bacterial toxins from the root surfaces. Routine cleaning removes the tartar above the gum line. Root planing removes the calculus below the gum line. We use local anesthetic to make the procedure comfortable. Using special instruments we carefully and meticulously plane the root surfaces. Once the source of infection is removed your gums begin to heal and they will begin to tighten around your teeth. Normally we spread root planing to two separate appointments. This way we can check the healing.

WHITE FILLINGS
Silver and gold fillings used to be your only choices especially for back teeth. Today we can replace silver fillings and create a much more natural look. We use one of the BEST new strong synthetic resin and porcelain. Since these materials are bonded to the teeth they are very strong and durable. These old silver fillings darken smiles, replacing them with tooth colored fillings makes a dramatic difference. The new fillings are nearly invisible; they restore teeth to their original and natural beauty and help you look your best.

PORCELAIN CROWNS AND BRIDGES
If you are having a tooth colored crown or bridge made, it could be a porcelain metal crown or bridge, or with new technology available today it could be an all porcelain crown or bridge. To have enough strength to withstand biting forces, porcelain crowns or bridges used to be built upon a metal core. If you’ve noticed a dark blue line on an edge of a crown or bridge it is the dark metal inside the porcelain. New breakthroughs in adhesives and stronger porcelain materials now make it possible to make crowns and bridges entirely out of porcelain and adhesives instead of the metal. All porcelain crowns and bridges maintain a translucency which makes them hard to tell from natural tooth. The problem of a dark line at the edge of the gums is eliminated. This allows us to place the edge of the crown or bridge above the gum line which is healthier for your tooth and gums. When you want to improve your smile, an all porcelain smile is a beautiful and natural looking choice.

IMPLANT DENTISTRY
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root placed into your jaw to hold a replacement crown or bridge in place. The treatment can be more conservative than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. Dental implants restorations are so natural-looking and feeling that you may forget you ever lost a tooth. Dental implants can be the best solution to the problem of missing teeth. Since dental implants integrate into the structure of your bone, they can prevent the bone loss and gum recession that often accompanies bridgework and dentures. No one will ever know that you have a replacement tooth. Some of the benefits are:
Cost effective: Because only one tooth is replaced rather than the three teeth of a bridge, dental implant tooth replacement can actually cost less than the traditional bridgework.
Tooth-saving: Dental implants do not sacrifice the quality of your adjacent teeth like a bridge does because neighboring teeth are not altered to support the implant. Your own teeth are left untouched, a significant long-term benefit to your oral health!
Comfort: Dental implants will allow you to once again speak and eat with comfort and confidence. They are secure and can offer freedom from the troublesome clicks and wobbles of loose dentures. Say goodbye to misplaced dentures and messy pastes and glues.
Reliable: the success rate for dental implants is highly predictable. They are considered an excellent option for tooth replacement.
